Homecoming Talk

Transcript of talk given in the Willow Creek Ward, March 24, 2024 As you guys know I just returned from my mission last week. My experiences on my mission have been amazing. It’s hard to describe and difficult to express just how unique, how wonderful a mission is. And it’s hard, you can’t express it in 20 minutes, you can’t express it in an hour. But today I wanted to talk about having faith to move mountains. Having faith in Jesus Christ to move the mountains in our lives. When I had just arrived in Iceland, the first month of being in Iceland there was a rededication of the land, or not a rededication of the land, a rededication of ourselves, of the members and the missionaries to the work, to sharing the gospel, to fulfilling our covenants and lifting each other up. And to do so, Elder Kapishke, who was a former member of the area presidency, there came. Elder Kapishke is amazing. He’s given a few General Conference talks. If you have a chance I’d definitely recommen...

THE CHURCH OF  JESUS CHRIST  OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS  Den Danske Mission Borups Allé 128, 1.tv. DK 2000 Frederiksberg Tlf. 38 11 39 99 February 5, 2024 Dear Brother and Sister Rasmussen, As you know your wonderful son, Elder Jacob Rasmussen, will return home on March 15, 2024 from Iceland of the Denmark Copenhagen Mission, where he has faithfully served. Sister Mattsson and I express tremendous joy for having been able to get to know your wonderful son during these past two years as Mission Leaders. You will not find a better, more dedicated, more inspired, more loved or more respected missionary in the mission. We have adopted him! Elder Rasmussen has touched the hearts of countless of people where he has labored, including the members, the leaders, and the many friends that he has been serving so valiantly. They will remember him with fondness for many, many years to come.  What a tribute to you as parents to have raised such a wonderful, kind, efficient, and dedicate...

Sæl Öll! This is gonna be my last weekly email! I technically have another p-day but I've got no motivation to write one next week. Several things have happened in the past few weeks! 1. There was a district created on the last sunday in February! The church news article got some things wrong. There's only 11 Elders in Iceland, the APs had come for splits during the conference and that's why they're in the photo of us all. Another is that the church has been steadily growing since the 1940s! That's not entirely true. There was a military branch established on the US military base at that time, but the first Icelander wasn't ordained to the priesthood until the 70s or something (excluding the early pioneers). We had a super fun culture night with all the branches on the 24th, where we got to sing several times as missionaries! A lot of our english class came! Gummi, a member in selfoss got called to be the district president, and elder Tibbitts, one of the senior...

Storm, storm, and more storm

This week was rough haha. There were several bad storms so we had to stay inside most of the time. We stayed in the church and went a little crazy. It canceled a lot of lessons unfortunately. Fernando did come to church though and he said that he really enjoyed it! I fully believe that he'll be baptized before I go home! One of those bad storm days we took the opportunity to do extra personal study. I found some really cool verses and the room that I studied in was really serene. Scripture study is one of the best ways to fill time! Do it! Love you all! Elder Rasmussen

Last transfer calls 😅

Good morning everyone! I hope you've been having a swell week! This week was pretty good! Last monday we got a new friend named Fernando. He's really cool and we're tying to help him to get his own witness that God is there and that there is a plan for everything! On wednesday we found 2 more friends, Gabriela and Lori. They were referrals from a member. They're both super nice and I think they'll connect well with the branch. Yesterday we started teaching the 9 year old son of 2 newly baptized members! He was so excited to learn and is super excited to be baptized! He knows so much already from primary, which was really cool to see! Shout out to primary teachers everywhere. It snowed practically all week... Kind of tiring tbh, but things are going well! Saturday morning we got transfer calls from the ZLs. Sunday will start the beginning of my last transfer (6 weeks) as a missionary. It's kind of surreal to be honest. Now I've gotta start thinking about my...
