This week was pretty interesting! Last week we were on fire and we had so many people progressing, but this week only 2/10 of our lessons actually happened. A bunch of people didn't show up, or ghosted us. It's alright though!
Last week President Mattsson challanged us to do 2/3 hours of contacting in ways that capitilized better on the beautiful skandinavian summer, because the winter is kinda horrible for outside finding, as nobody is outside. So we've been doing that and it's been pretty awesome! I wish we had been doing that more since I've been here. I'd say the Iceland missionary culture is changing for the better! We're more hopeful and excited to do the work.
Also just a blurb about how President Mattsson's a legend. He has the exact suit that Daniel Craig wore in the first James Bond movie (which I've never seen), but that's a pretty legendery item to own. I can't even imagine how expensive it must've been. My brother in law loves James Bond if I remember correctly haha.
On friday, a journalist followed us around and interviewed us for the news! pretty exciting! He was really interested on the missionary life style, but the day was pretty drab. It was weird having a person follow us around the whole time. It definitely cramped our style, so hopefully he doesn't think that every day for two years is like that one was...
But the interview went well! My Icelandic wasn't garbage, and infact I'd say it was above average for myself. I had been thinking alot about trusting the lord and really commiting myself to that trust, which I believe is why I was able to talke as well as I was.
Last p-day we went to a store called Kostur, which basically has a bunch of American snacks and foods that the EU bans because they have severly unhealthy chemicals or ingredients. Iceland's not formally in the EU so they kinda get to do what they want. So this store had a bunch of things, like cereals and candies, a bunch of instant raman, things like that. My companion got some cereal money for his birthday from his parents, and so we went and left with about 6 boxes of cereal XD.
We went to our friends Johanna and Olafur's house for dinner, and they served us lamb with sweet potatos and it was so good! They just got back from a trip to Brazil that was like 7 weeks long. And while they were there they went to church every week, and actually ran into a member of the quorom of the 70s! That was pretty insane. They're so close to being ready for baptism! It's awesome.
We got to play basketball with a few potential friends! It was super fun. It took me a little to warm up, but then I started draining 3s! Pretty swaggy if I do say so myself.
Bless Bless!
