Hello
I hope you're doing well. This week I'd say was fairly productive. We're fully moved into our new apartment! It's really close to the church, which is really nice because we go to the church a lot (surprise) but now it's about 45 minutes away from the places with high foot traffic for street contacting.
In terms of numbers things didn't look too hot this week, but we're getting things going. The holidays were a little rough to be honest. They're the darkest weeks of the entire year, and people are a whole lot more occupied than usual. Some of the bus stations were dead as people went on holiday. When Elder Morales and I moved into this area, there was two friends. One of which hadn't been taught in 4 months while the other hadn't been taught in 2. There were a few potentials though, we've been working with them and trying to help them progress and I think soon we'll start seeing that. One's name is Diego. His parents are recently baptized and he's 9 or 10 years old. Do to where they live it's really hard to meet with them, but I believe we recently sorted it out! I've got high hopes for him! He really enjoys his sunday school classes.
Many of the people here, especially the ones from Venezuela are extremely busy looking for jobs, it makes it a little more difficult to meet. I'm extremely impressed by the members here. Even though they have an extremely difficult situation, practically all of them remain devoted disciples of Christ. They've been an amazing example of taking up the cross and proving their conversion to the Lord in times of trial. Over my mission I've seen people turning to many different "gods" for solace, but I've seen that only one God can truly succor them.
I know that the Book of Mormon was written by God's chosen servants, and that by following the principles it contains, principles discerned by the spirit through sincere study, will lead you to the clarity of mind that many people lack. The voices in the world screaming at us subside as we focus on hearing the Savior's voice.
Congrats to my brother who starts his mission next week!
Love you all,
Elder Rasmussen
