Jacob's Mission

Happy halloween! This week was so weird. Wednesday was the anniversary of my mission call! It feels so weird. Time is forever and in an instance at the same time haha. Elder Mattson hasn't gotten to Iceland yet. They got a few vísa and travel delays but they'll be here on wednesday though! They kept pushing it back á day or two, so we weren't sure what we could plan. We did our best though! Our friends are the best. Today Jónína took us to play á golf simulator. It was so cool! I've only played minni gólf and top gold though so it was really unfortunate to watch me. I ended up with the most points and therefore winning👑👑 I've fallen in love with Icelandic so much. It's so cool to figure out the complete puzzle of the grammar. I wanna learn so many languages haha. Especially Icelandic and Spanish. Apparently in early church history they made a unique Alphabet for English which is more phonetic, to help people learn English as a second language. That sound...

First off, we got transfer news! I'll be training here in akureyri! I'll be training Elder Mattson! President Mattsson's pretty excited for him to be in our mission, even though their names are different by an 's'. I'm super excited! He gets here Wednesday, and we'll be on Thursday when Elder Whittle and his comp drive down to Kópavogur. I'm really excited! It's gonna be so fun to work with someone who has the MTC fire, I miss when I used to have it. (that sounds trunkier than it is). We had a branch conference this weekend! I got called to be the first councilor in the elder's quorum presidency. That will be really exciting to work on in the future. Also, breaking news. Hey guys! My birthday was on saturday, thank you for all the birthday wishes! One of the members insisted on having a party for me. We managed to get 4 of our friends to come! But long story short, this member insisted on having a bajillion cakes (I think in total, about 7) for the 11 people that came. Diabetes? Most likely. It was amazing though! We had a great time and we were able to strengthen our connection with the branch, and some of our friends. I'm 20 years old. Not sure how I feel about it yet, but sometimes it's hard to believe. My knees (especially when flying) insist that I'm 56, but I definetly feel too inexperienced to be 20. It snowed on saturday night! Apparently it only snows on saturday nights and sundays. I'm still a heater though. I find myself frequently sweating, but that's probably because I'm not good at judging which jacket to wear because I've never really faced that problem before. Góðan daginn kæru bræður og systir! In attempt to make up for last week's email, which was kind of like a sick bird trying to fly with a broken wing, I've decided to write another completely normal email so that my sister doesn't hurt me when I get home... Yesterday church was cancelled because we had a huge storm! There was 50 centimeters of precipitation according to the forecast, and there's several inches of snow on the ground! It's pretty cool. But yeah, the branch president cancelled because it would have peaked during church, and if the power went out, half of the ward couldn't leave because the elevator would stop working and they couldn't take the stairs. This week the zone leaders drove up for exchanges! We had a pretty good couple of days. Jónína received an answer to her prayer about the Book of Mormon!!! She messaged us and said she believed it completely now! She had been praying and reading and watching general conference, and it was awe...

Góðan Daginn vinir! This week was pretty awesome! We went to Reykjavik for zone conference, then we got to watch General Conference! It was super awesome! Jónína and Sigurbjörn both came to watch the first session with us at the Church. It was pretty awesome! This is gonna be a super short email. Some of the overall themes that stuck out to me were charity, intentional covenant keeping, and the companionship of the Holy Ghost! I know as we do those things the lord will bless and strengthen us as we seek to have charity, keep our covenants, and be in tone with the Holy Ghost!
