Jól er komin
In attempt to make up for last week's email, which was kind of like a sick bird trying to fly with a broken wing, I've decided to write another completely normal email so that my sister doesn't hurt me when I get home...
Yesterday church was cancelled because we had a huge storm! There was 50 centimeters of precipitation according to the forecast, and there's several inches of snow on the ground! It's pretty cool. But yeah, the branch president cancelled because it would have peaked during church, and if the power went out, half of the ward couldn't leave because the elevator would stop working and they couldn't take the stairs.
This week the zone leaders drove up for exchanges! We had a pretty good couple of days.
Jónína received an answer to her prayer about the Book of Mormon!!! She messaged us and said she believed it completely now! She had been praying and reading and watching general conference, and it was awesome! (Icelandic general conference was english general conference but with subtitles, so she basically read almost 10 hours of conference). She's the sweetest little lady. Every time we go over she's backed something different. This last time, she made apple pie! Apple pie's one of my favorites. This apple pie had a marangue top and it was really good. She also gave us each a pear of mittens that she knitted herself, made of Icelandic wool! They're super nice!
Sigurbjörn's doing well too! He's read from the beginning of the Book of Mormon all the way to Alma 17 last time we talked! He's amazing. He loves Jesus and his heart's so pure.
It would be awesome if you prayed for them both!!
Since I've come on my mission I've gotten really into reading again. I've started reading 'Jesus The Christ' in my free time every morning and evening, and also the scriptures of course! They're always awesome.
My birthday's on saturday! I turn 20. that makes me feel really old. I'm basically a dinosaur now, back pain and everything. Pretty soon you'll be able to dig up my dead body and find oil instead.
Icelandic's been pretty rough this week, but I'm excited to re-dedicate myself to my language studies. I spent a large portion of them translating the talk I was supposed to give yesterday...
It feels like Christmas because the weather's cold, which is a treat that only rarely blessed texas. In the store they've started busting out the Christmas themed snacks and stuff. I've listened to Christmas music a few times, which's been fun.
