Baptism and zone conference
Last munday feels like forever ago
Tuesday also feels like forever ago. Second to last lesson with jónína.
Wednesday, we drove to Reykjavik for a zone conference. When we got there, we had the opportunity to go contacting with Elders Richards and Petersen. It was so weird being in the city. Reykjavik's the biggest city in Iceland, but it's nothing compared to Houston. (To give you something to picture the size, they have signs telling the farmers not to drive their tractors downtown during business hours, which isn't something that needs to be clarified in Houston, or any other city that I know of XD). Despite that, it felt huge. Akureyri's tiny, and I've been here so long that I've adjusted to it.
Þakkargjörðarhátíð - On Thursday, we fasted in preparation for the zone conference. We also got to go on blitz splits, (basically scramble the elders and we go knock a whole area). It was really cool! I got to work with Elder Carr, who I'd never met before that moment. It was pretty fun! Then we went to the church and prepared for zone conference. We went to this place called Heiðmörk. It was this really pretty place, where we had a devotional by one of the members about prettiness and beauty, how beauty's not always the same, simple, shallow stuff that the world tends to look at. And how that everyone is a beautiful child of God. It was a little cold and rainy, but the ponder time was really cool. Afterwards, we returned to the church and had an awesome training by the Zone Leaders. They taught us about how and why to ask the lord 'What lack I yet?' but not to disregard the promptings from the spirit. They based it off of Elder Lawrence's talk from October 2015 (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2015/10/what-lack-i-yet?lang=eng) really good, definitely read it.
Friday we drove back up to Akureyri with Elder Whittle, then surprised Jónína with him in our last lesson before she was baptized!
Saturday. The baptism!!!!!!!!!!! It was pretty amazing. Satan definitely tried to make things collapse, but the lord prevailed as always.
Sunday we had her confirmation, and a potluck after church! One of the members brought these meatballs with a 'spicy' sauce on them but the only spice in it was black pepper XD! It was too spicy for them so they gave us the leftovers haha. Jónína was so happy for the confirmation!
Blessss!
