Sigló og jól

Góðan daginn fallegt fólk!

This week was pretty long, I can't exactly remember everything that happened.

Tuesday- We volunteered at Hertext again, then we went and taught Jónína the first follow up lesson with Karítas, one of the members. It was really cool! They fed us something called 'astapunktur' which translates to love points, but they said it translated to 'love testicles'... They were just bread, no meat of any sorts, so thank goodness, I was a little worried about tasting rocky mountain oysters for the first time.

Wednesday - We did a mentoring session for Elder Mattson's training. It was kind of weird, but really insightful. We've also been working a lot harder to accomplish the standard of excellence (2 hours of outside contacting daily. It was established to take advantage of the good weather in the summer, but nobody's told us the weather's not good enough yet B)). It's been fairly succesful. We have a lesson with a new person on wednesday whom we found from it.

Thursday - We went to help Elspa move a (insert whatever the couch that converts into a bed is called) into her apartment. It was kind of weird, but really insightful. We had district councel and the funeral for Elder Petersen (He goes home tomorrow ;-;) I'm really gonna miss him.

Friday - We went to siglufjörður, which is about an hour and 15 minutes north of Akureyri. A Chinese woman had asked for a Book of Mormon, so we went and taught her! She was really nice. Unfortunately she didn't speak too much English or Icelandic, but we did our best! She responds to our messages still, so it mustn't have been too bad.

Saturday - We got transfer news. I'm staying here again. At the end of this transfer, I'll have spent a quarter of my mission here in Akureyri, but statistically that makes sense, there's only 4 areas. Guess we'll see if the Holy Ghost took stats in premortal college. We had a mission wide farewell zoom, which was really weird. Elder Petersen gave his testimony, and then like 4 sisters that nobody in Iceland knows really XD. Jónína also invited us over. She's so awesome!

Sunday - Elspa finally gave me a peysa, which is the sweater I have on in that one photo I just shared. It's really nice, I just need to take a lint roller to my shirts after I take it off haha. Saturday I had a really good language study, so I was feeling pretty nice about my Icelandic, but God was swift to humble me. No matter how much I study, I always talk the best when I'm relying on Him. It's a good life lesson. We started a 40 day fast, where we sacrifice the loose ends of our work and stuff, things we've been a little lax with, or anything that could hinder us from the spirit. I'm really excited for the extra spiritual boost at the end.

Monday - We set up our Christmas tree! Got a haircut, stocked up on horse meat. I'm gonna feast. Now I plan to grind on the Rubik's cube. Elder mattson got me addicted. My best time is 1 minute, 11.43 seconds. I've gotta get under a minute.
