Boom goes the dynamite

Hello people!

So much has happened the past two weeks, sorry I didn't get to write last week!

first, we had transfers and I'm now in Selfoss! I had to say goodbye to my friends and the members, but I

This weekend was historic though!

On thursday we drove from Akureyri to Reykjavik for zone conference. Friday we had zone conference with Elder Boom from the Northern europe area presidency. He's super awesome! It was really amazing. During the conference, I was feeling a little down, but then I had a really cool experience with the spirit. It was kind of a personal reminder of the story of the currant bush by Elder Christofferson. When we feel down or beaten back or anything, it's because God wants to build us into something Else, something better. Even if we can't see the full picture.

On Saturday we had a baptism! Magnús, one of the most elect members of the church ever, was baptized. He's a young adult about our age, who's got the biggest vision for helping the world.

That evening we had an Iceland wide conference! Before it started, I was chatting with some venesuelan members in spanish and I actually didn't die. I must've done fairly well because one of them came up to me afterwards and asked when the meeting started on sunday.

On sunday, the Reykjavík 2nd branch was established! Before that though, President Mattsson called and asked if a pair of Elders could be at the church at 10. So we left to get the bus. The bus driver was definitly driving by the spirit because you couldn't see anything out the windshield. At our bus stop, we could hardly walk to the church which is only like 150 meters away. Someone called it the Joseph Smith effect. Right before something good happens, something else always tries to disrupt it. Like a blizzard. BUT, the spirit of God, like a fire was burning through even the harshest storm. This is an exciting time to be alive!

That evening we drove back to Selfoss. Elder Carr's not gotten driving permissions yet, so your good texan friend Elder Rasmussen was driving for the first time in a mild blizzard. It went fairly well except for at one point we were sliding downhill next to another car. But, all's well that ends well.

Elder Rasmussen
