The week of Miracles

Guys. The Lord is here in Iceland with us. It's insane. The amount of miracles we've seen this past week is inumerable. Things are going crazy.

In my first transfer, our numbers were pretty low. To be honest the missionary work was kind of dead. But now 10 months later, it seems like a whole new world. This transfer, The Iceland district found 50 new friends. Though we haven't checked, to everyone's memory, that's an all time record!!!! 50 people excepted the invitation to learn more about the gospel! Not only that, but we had 101 friends in church! This is almost guarunteed to be the first time that we've had triple digits on that key indicator in the whole mission! The lord is hastening His work! It's just incomprehensable. there's roughly 400 members in Iceland, so having this amount of people in church is really significant.

Not only that, but in the space of 48 hours, every area put somebody on baptismal date! Daníel is ours! He's super amazing! He came to church on sunday as well, and is going to make an excellent addition to the selfoss branch. He will be baptized april 8th, then confirmed on the following easter sunday! I can't think of a more fitting date!

On top of that, yesterday I finished the Book of Mormon in Icelandic for the first time.

Oh man! I love being a missionary so much. I've never felt so much joy. I'm so grateful that I have the opportunity to be here, and that the lord trusted me enough to let me try to feed His sheep. There's nothing like feeling the light of the gospel, then watching it spread into the people around you. I'm so thankful for everyone's support from home who've helped me to be here!

This morning we saw another miracle. We were teaching our second english class in Selfoss, and our friends invited their friends. Around 25 people showed up!!!!! That's more than the active membership here! It's insane. We were able to help them on their path to learn english, then we invited them to watch a video about the church. They accepted, and multiple people asked for more information on the church!

I feel like the Lord's sending these people from venesuela to iceland to change the perception of the church to the eyes of the public! It's insane.

But that's not even the half of the miracles! There's nothing like the spirit of God!

Oh man! I love you guys so much!

Good morning everyone! I hope you've been having a swell week! This week was pretty good! Last monday we got a new friend named Fernando. He's really cool and we're tying to help him to get his own witness that God is there and that there is a plan for everything! On wednesday we found 2 more friends, Gabriela and Lori. They were referrals from a member. They're both super nice and I think they'll connect well with the branch. Yesterday we started teaching the 9 year old son of 2 newly baptized members! He was so excited to learn and is super excited to be baptized! He knows so much already from primary, which was really cool to see! Shout out to primary teachers everywhere. It snowed practically all week... Kind of tiring tbh, but things are going well! Saturday morning we got transfer calls from the ZLs. Góðan og blessaðan daginn! This week was full of all sorts of things. We got to meet Gloria, this Kenyan lady who's really nice. We went with Elder Gunderson and she really liked his passion for the gospel! On Sunday she attended church and really loved it! One of the members picked her up, and the members were fantastic at fellowshipping her. Funke came as well! She's awesome. I've never taught anyone who has a better understanding of the gospel than her. She's ready to be baptized. Please pray for her and her husband! Vyacheslav came as well! He's really great and I could tell he enjoyed it. Elder Whittle and I have been getting along well. Elders Pearson and Richards went home on Saturday (their flight got delayed one day). It was sad to say goodbye and also weird that I'm the 2nd most senior missionary in Iceland haha... Esther Alfa

Hey guys! This week was crazy. Many unexpected things happened. We learned on Saturday morning that Esther Alfa had passed away. This came as a complete surprise to everyone. She was extremely young to pass away and the cause is yet unknown. I don't know who remembers, but Esther was the first convert that I had the opportunity to teach. She was baptized a few weeks after I got to Iceland. Keep her family in your prayers. Today at FHE we shared memories of her. I shared this verse: Alma 46:21 "And it came to pass that when Moroni had proclaimed these words, behold, the people came running together with their armor girded about their loins, rending their garments in token, or as a covenant, that they would not forsake the Lord their God..." Esther was a devout christian, strong in her faith, and never scared to stand for her belief in the Savior. She was an example of the believers to everyone she was arround.
