365 days???????????????????????????

Today is my 365th day as a missionary. That's so weird. Tomorrow is my one year anniversary. I will theoretically have less time left than time I've served already. I got set apart today but a year ago.

This week was pretty awesome! On Thursday we had another english class! This time some venezuelan RMs came and shared their testimony at the end. It was super awesome. I'm hopeful for that class! I think several will accept the gospel.

This sunday was another miracle too! We've been praying for more spanish members to move to our area to help support the ones here and our friends. So on sunday in church, a young man named Gabriel walks in. He's a member from Honduras! It's amazing. And he said he was a ward missionary there and would love to teach with us!

The weather has been beautiful all week! Spring is coming for sure. The Moss on lava fields is turning green again, so now everyone can say 'did you know Greenland is ice and Iceland is green??' 😆 that was a very common question in the MTC.

Alma 29 has been of specific interest to me this week. I find it now to be one of the most important chapters of explaining missionary work. Verses 8 and 9 say:

"8 For behold, the Lord doth grant unto all nations, of their own nation and tongue, to teach his word, yea, in wisdom, all that he seeth fit that they should have; therefore we see that the Lord doth counsel in wisdom, according to that which is just and true.

9 I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy."

This is a reminder of humility to me. God has put us each in our spots, to serve. Mission wise, some people may baptize more or find more. But God puts everyone where he sees fit, even if it means being less than 100% effective at one point in time. I love Alma's use of the singular 'soul'. It's focused on the one. The individual. The way Christ did. And by helping the one, He was able to have many people follow Him. It also reminds me of the talk "Lift where you stand". It's not about doing the most Exerting task, or the most complex, it's about doing the tasks that God has asked of you. Even if it means doing a little task despite being capable of doing more.

The fire is coming to selfoss! I guess a time update, we're starting the second week of my second transfer in Selfoss today.

Love,

Öldungur Rasmussen
