Gleðilega sumardaginn fyrsta
This week was a grind for sure! We did a whole bunch of finding, and this week we're starting to see how the lord's blessing us for it.
I'm not sure if this happened before or after last p-day, but I had been reading Jesus The Christ and finally finished it. It was a good experience for me, I had been feeling a little difficulty with trying to focus and get all my energy back into the work, and finishing it really helped me reset my perspective and revive my fire!
Jóhanna is back from her thing so we'll be able to meet with her again! Her baptismal date is may 23rd, pray for her!
Thelma Karen, one of our returning members has 2 kids that we hope to start teaching soon! It will be great to tie the blessings of the restored gospel to their whole family!
Davíð Art, one of the members is (Ironically) an artist by profession! Today he wants us to come to his studio and paint with him! It should be a really fun experience.
Lydia, our Irish friend, came to church yesterday! It was great to see her there! One of the members (Bettina, a total legend) invited us, her, and Gabriel over for dinner on friday! It'll be a great chance to teach her some more and to strengthen the member relations!
Stefán met with us Saturday morning! He's been meeting with the missionaries for years and we were able to have a great conversation about the things keeping him from progression.
Thursday was the first day of summer! It's a holiday in Iceland (people are desperate for vitamin D)! There were several festivals and events! We went to one and met this pentacostal pastor! He was super nice and we made a solid contact! We were also able to see Daniel, our friend who was on baptismal date before he dropped us, and a few members! Gabriel and Lydia showed up with their friend Mariom who's from Mexico. Guys it was so uncanny. She acted and behaved like an average person in high school or spring Texas. It was kind of tripping me out 😅, but also refreshing in a way.
Yesterday a family from Holland came to church! They're on vacation for a few weeks and invited us over for dinner tomorrow. They're super energetic, and don't speak the most English, so it's gonna be a really awesome experience 😂😂. I'm super grateful for it!
This week has been one of reflection for me as well. I've seen or at least realized one of the things I was told would happen. Meeting so many people, I can peer into their lifestyles and experiences. I get to learn important messages and lessons. One I've learned this week is about the reality of Sata luring people into a carnal sense of security, where they may think they're safe, but then they end up falling away.
Love,
Öldungur Rasmussen
