The week of Miracles

Image
Guys. The Lord is here in Iceland with us. It's insane. The amount of miracles we've seen this past week is inumerable. Things are going crazy. In my first transfer, our numbers were pretty low. To be honest the missionary work was kind of dead. But now 10 months later, it seems like a whole new world. This transfer, The Iceland district found 50 new friends. Though we haven't checked, to everyone's memory, that's an all time record!!!! 50 people excepted the invitation to learn more about the gospel! Not only that, but we had 101 friends in church! This is almost guarunteed to be the first time that we've had triple digits on that key indicator in the whole mission! The lord is hastening His work! It's just incomprehensable. there's roughly 400 members in Iceland, so having this amount of people in church is really significant. Not only that, but in the space of 48 hours, every area put somebody on baptismal date! Daníel is ours! He's super amazin...

Ye Elders of Israel

hello hello hello. Greetings from your favorite missionary! How's everyone been this week???? This week was full of miracles, I'm excited to share some with you! Last monday, we start hearing rumors that the truckers are going on strike. Super spennandi. We continued on with life as normal, but then on tuesday we get a phone call from Elder MickyG (McGary) learning that we should be cautious about how much gas we spend! (We have one of the few missionary cars in the world that doesn't have teewee, and we have unlimited kilometers B). The people who run that program didn't think that it was worth it to come to Iceland to install it for the single young missionary car. Because Iceland is so small, there's a lot less competitors who could've shipped the stuff around, so it could've potentially shut a large portion of the country down in a few aspects. On tuesday, we wake up and there's a message from a person the missionaries had stopped teaching severa...

The end of nowhere.

This week started out fairly fun! Elder Pollock and I were together on tuesday for splits, then I was supposed to go with Elder Richards on Wednesday, but the weather prevented us from doing that. On thursday we drove to Reykjavik for district council. Afterwards we went to this mexican place called Serrano. TBH it probably wasn't that good of mexican food but I haven't had mexican in about a year, so I have no clue, but it was really good. Elder Carr and I came back to Selfoss after that! We taught Jóhanna and had a good evening. On friday we celebrated þorrablót! It's an icelandic tradition where they eat the old icelandic food in memory of their ancestors who perservered through life here without modern technology. We got to eat rotten shark, sheeps head, liver and blood sausage, and a bunch of other thing! The shark actually wasn't as bad this time, though I avoided eating a sheep eyeball again... In other news, we got a new friend! His name is Pétur and he'...

Idk really

This week felt pretty long! We had branch council! This is the only Icelandic branch that does it, but it was super awesome. The church's Icelandic translator is in this branch, so we got some sneak peeks at a few of the new icelandic songs in the coming hymn book! There are a few bangers! Some of my favorite hymns in english have been translated! We had a few lessons. Most of the people have known the missionaries for years and even have a witness that the Book of Mormon and restoration of the church is true, but have something keeping them from being baptized unfortunately. I've been working extra hard to avoid distractions this week. Other than that, not much to report! The weather's been stormy off and on. Pray for my comp, Elder Carr! He's working on adjusting to mission life! Ö. Rasmussen
